red corner
The exhibition cycle by Perm-based women artists, “Red Corner,” in which Iya Milashina took part, was presented in 2022 in Perm (Central Exhibition Hall), and in 2024 in Saint Petersburg (Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art) and Kirov (Vyatka Art Museum), brings together artistic reflections on what is most intimate and deeply valued.
The project’s title refers to the tradition of the “red corner” — the sacred space in a home where the most important, carefully preserved, and spiritually significant objects were placed. Through painting, graphic art, and other artistic practices, the participants reveal personal meanings, memory, inner foundations, and what constitutes their own “red corner” — a space of strength, faith, and love.
